We all start a New Year with the best of intentions—maybe to stress less, live more, get fitter, or be happier. But good habits can be hard to stick to once everyday life kicks back in.

That’s where Laughter Yoga comes in!

I am thrilled to be be part of Moreton Bay Region Libraries’ summer talk program, sharing how to harness the power of laughter for wellbeing.

Or, as I’ve decided to say, we’re going to ‘Nix the Tricks in ’26’ .

How Laughter Yoga Helps New Year Resolutions

Laughter Yoga combines intentional laughter exercises with gentle breathwork, playful movement  and mindfulness.

It helps us press ‘pause’ on busy thoughts, reset our energy, and rediscover joy—no jokes or yoga mats required!

When we laugh together, we release tension, boost our mood, and connect more easily with others.

It’s a playful and practical way to keep those New Year intentions alive, build resilience and reframe life’s challenges.

Moreton Bay Region Library Laughter Talk Dates

If this appeals to you —maybe you feel you don’t laugh much anymore or have nothing to laugh about;  maybe you want to be a part of something social and fun that’s good for you too;  perhaps you’ve simply resolved to do ‘something new’— here are the details:

📍 North Lakes Library      Friday 30 January 11am
📍 Redcliffe Library            Wednesday 11 February 11am

📍 Bribie Island Library     Thursday 26 February, 11am

You will need to book your spot. Do that at:  moretonbay.qld.gov.au/libraries.

Sustaining that laughter after the talks

What I’m stoked about is that when the talks are all done and dusted, you’ll still be able to connect and laugh because there are laughter clubs in the three localities.

Volunteer-run free (or very low cost) social hubs of joy practising laughter yoga. Check out this page for all the details. That truly is very good, very good, YAY!

But wait, there’s even more good news in the City of Moreton Bay region.

Starting 9am Friday 30 January, Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre is piloting a 4-week Laughter Club at Deception Bay Environmental Hub, 7 Joseph Crescent, Deception Bay.

Talk about kick-starting a new year with joy and laughter!! Hope to see you.
