Here in Australia, Spring is in the air.
A cacophony of birds wakes me with their excitable chatter before dawn. The sweet perfume of wattle lingers in the air and the sting of bindii eye on bare feet reminds me of a weeding task that’s overdue.

Our minds need tending too. Whether you have a balcony herb pot or a sprawling garden, take some time to nurture your inner landscape.

Here are my favourite practices to help your mind flourish this season.

  1. Weed Out Unhelpful Thoughts

Practice: Mental Flossing with Laughter Yoga
Just as weeds crowd a garden, negative or repetitive thoughts can clutter your mind.

Try this: Imagine flossing your brain with an invisible string as you gently laugh—“ho ho ha ha ha.” Picture those unhelpful thoughts loosening and slipping away. Even intentional laughter (yes, even the “fake” kind) signals the brain to release stress and lighten your mood.  Watch my YouTube demo.

  1. Plant Seeds of Positivity

Practice: Gratitude Journaling
Seeds grow into blossoms; gratitude grows into joy.

Try this: Each day, write down three small things you’re grateful for. Over time, these ‘seeds’ grow into a lush garden of positivity.

  1. Prune Mental Clutter

Practice: 5-Minute Brain Dump
Pruning dead branches helps plants thrive. Clearing mental clutter frees up your focus.

Try this: Set a timer for five minutes and write whatever comes to mind—no editing, no rules. When you’re done, either toss the page or save it for reflection.

4. Cultivate Curiosity

Practice: Expand Your Interest
Curiosity is like rootstock for a growth mindset.

Try this: If something sparks even a flicker of interest—a word, a picture, a phrase—follow it for 5–10 minutes. Notice where it leads and what you discover.

5. Water with Kind Attention

Practice: Mindful Breathing
Plants need water. Your mind needs presence.

Try this: Pause for one minute. Inhale deeply through your nose, exhale slowly through your mouth. Feel the breath like gentle rain, nourishing your inner calm.

Breathe, stretch, laugh - laughter yoga with HeatherJoy Campbell

Ready to Grow Your Joy?

Just as gardens thrive with a little care, so too does your wellbeing. Through Laughter Yoga and Science of Happiness practices, I help people clear mental weeds, plant positivity, and reconnect with playfulness.

If you’d like to bring these practices into your workplace, community group, or event, I’d love to share them in an interactive workshop. Let’s talk about how we can cultivate laughter, lightness, and resilience together.
